Overview
Located in Batu 9, Cheras; Lavazza is the only cafe that stand out in this small, lazy part of Cheras.
Chic and modern, Lavazza has a lively and inviting atmosphere for their patrons comfort. Although the café is not large, the layout of the café is very well done and feels very spacious.
Lavazza Cafe is famous for their top notch chefs and their unique designer cakes which has won them several titles in the Culinaire Malaysia Awards which is held once every 2 years.
The most recent awards that was won by the Lavazza team is in the Culinaire Malaysia 2011 Awards, when they brought the following awards back:
- Gold medallist for designer cake
- Silver medallist for designer cake
- Gold medallist for cocktail
- Bronze medallist for mocktail
For a regular cafe, although there is nothing special about the interior of the cafe, it is however very visually pleasing and comfortable. Despite being a rather small cafe, the tables are laid out neatly and very easy to maneuver around the diner without much obstructions.
At the back of the cafe, there is a built-in display shelf where they display many of their finest mock designers cake.
Birthday parties and large gatherings are usually held upstairs, on the 1st floor of the cafe. Reservations with the manager is required at least 1 day earlier as the 1st floor area is closed to the public.
For those who prefer to have their meals al fresco, there’s an outdoor dining area just outside the café.
Lavazza is armed with some of Malaysia’s best chefs and the menu reflects this, offering detailed descriptions of each item on offer. Lavazza serves mainly Western cuisine, but there are some Fusian selections too.
There’s a variety of light bites, platters, sandwiches as well as pastas, mains, and salads.
Portions come in just the right sizes, generous but not too much, and elegantly presented.
Lavazza is not a Vegetarian café, however, it is vegetarian friendly thus offers a range of vegetarian dishes.
Although we’re not spoilt with choices in the vegetarian selections, the ones that are served are really well done.
Some of their well-known and popular vegetarian main courses are the signature vegetarian sandwich and vegetarian spaghetti; both priced at RM 12.90.
Lavazza takes pride in their drinks as well. With the presence of their award winning bar tender Mr Kevin, Lavazza serves you some of the best cocktails and mocktails in town.
One of their famous mocktails is called the Berry Punch which is priced at RM 10.90.
Lavazza Café is also well known for their amazing designer cakes. They are the only café that are able to create beautiful, detailed and delicious fine cakes.
Designed by Chef Chiew, a Master pastry chef famously known for his recent Champion Award in the prestigious Culinaire Malaysia 2011 Awards; it is no wonder that Lavazza continues to produce these magnificent masterpiece for their patrons.
As a whole, Lavazza cafe is a great place for family and friends to hang out.

Reviewer’s Rating
Interior – 3/5
Good atmosphere. The furniture is strategically placed and comfortable. The cafe is very clean and neat.
Food – 4/5
The food is excellent! The serving portion is just right, one doesn’t have to force oneself to finish up everything on the plate and yet feel satisfied at the end of the meal. A must try when you visit here is the Vegetarian sandwich and the mushroom in herb.
Vegetarian Selection – 3/5
Since it is not a vegetarian cafe, obviously, there are not many choices of vegetarian food. However, there are vegetarian selections in every category (appetizer, main, desert, etc) which makes a complete and satisfying meal.
Pricing – 3/5
Considering how satisfying each meal is in Lavazza cafe, the pricing is worth it. With the main courses priced below RM 15, this is pretty reasonable for a cafe with an internationally recognized chef.
Service – 4/5
First look and you may think you’ve walked into a Japanese ‘maid cafe’. With the cute maid costume worn by the waitresses aside, their service is quick, and food is served shortly after ordering.
Find your way there!

This was not our first time dining in Lavazza Viva Home, but this evening was the worst ever experiance at Lavazza (Friday 28 June 2013). We were dining at 7.15pm. Not many customers around. only 2 tables occupied (1 single and one a group of 3). Ordered black pepper beef rice set and ginger chicken pasta set (additional RM3 for the soup and a drink). Food arrived separately at 7.50pm and 8pm. Black pepper beef gravy was SOO SALTY and the dish was more carrots than the meat (counted only 6 thin small slices)! It is only slices of carots and very little beef in it. Very salty black pepper gravy and white rice! Nothing else! Nothing like the picture in the menu!… I just could not eat it! Complained to the waiter. He offered the same dish as a replacement!!! (is he crazy or what?). Decided to order the club sandwich instead. Waited another 15 minutes but did not arrive. Pasta meal was also substandard in quality. Decided to leave. Asked waiter for the sandwich to be packed for take away instead. Asked for the bil. Was surprised that we were charged for all the items including the inedible black pepper beef rice! Asked the waiter why is that so, and his reply was that because I refused his initial offer for the replacement meal (same dish). I was soo angry and decided to leave. Club sandwitch was not ready. Paid cash RM45 (including for the club sandwich), without waiting for the change (or the unprepared club sandwich). Just wanted to leave this restaurant with crappy foods and crappy service as soon as possible! Lavazza Viva Home sucks! This place RM8.99 menu set is a scam!
This is at VIva Home! Same building as where KPVH is! hehe didn’t know that they have such variety of vegetarian dishes. Will definitely check them out when i am on duty there next.. 🙂
Thank you vegetarian restaurant team for exploring the restaurants and sharing the experiences with us on the blog! Thank you for the effort, team! 🙂

Should try out. As long as they serve vegetarian food I’ll sure to take a bite! Just a bit too far but will make my way there.

hmmm, not only vegetarian, they serve vegan food too.
Eee.. Cheras is a little too far from when I live but this review showed those delicious looking cakes! Hehe… will definitely go to try them if I happen to be nearby that area. Thank you!
