Overview
Located in Cheras, Milwaukee started out as a small stall in Cheras 10 years ago and later became a fully-fledged restaurant by their founder Mr Choo Kai Mun – a man who appreciates good food, the environment and his Harley.
Famously known for serving one of the best steaks in the area, Milwaukee also caters for their vegetarian customers, providing them with a few selections for their animal-loving customers.
Milwaukee is a well-known hang out spot for the residents around Balakong, Cheras and Kajang. People of all ages come over in the evenings just to relax and have a good meal with their friends and loved ones. However, are the vegetarian dishes good?
Reviewer’s Ratings
Interior – 3/5
Milwaukee certainly has a nice and cosy environment, although there is really nothing special about the interior. The place is clean and comfortable. They have ample space, so one does not have to worry that they may not get a place to dine if a reservation wasn’t made. After the sun goes down, Milwaukee staff opens the garden terrace for customers to enjoy having their meal outdoors. For those who can’t stand the Malaysian climate and find it too warm to dine out in the evenings, they can choose to dine on the air-conditioned, first floor of Milwaukee.
Food – 2/5
Although meat-less food is not their specialty, Milwaukee have made the effort to entertain their vegetarian guests by offering some vegetarian options on their menu. Unfortunately, despite the noted effort, their vegetarian options are nothing to shout about. The presentation for all orders are visually-pleasing, however the same positive opinion can not be said for the taste. The only thing that tasted good was the fruit salad, ice cream and herbal tea. Anything that went into the oven turned out substandard. Even their famous Samosa and classic cheese cake were below expectations.
Milwaukee only have one vegetarian choice for their main course, which is the Aglio Olio. As a considerably simple dish, it could have tasted much better. The lack of herbs and excessive use of chilli flakes, did not make up for the almost-over-cooked spaghetti.
The banana split is good, however if you decide to order it, do request them not to deep-fry the banana!

Pricing – 4/5
The price’s at Milwaukee is similar to that of any other standard cafe. It is not too costly nor cheap either. However, considering the food quality, it must be said it may not be worth the price. The main course is not too expensive (Aglio Olio – RM 12.90), but the appetizers and deserts are over-priced – especially when the food quality is not up to standard. The fruit salad costs RM9.90 and can be shared by a maximum of 2 pax. The cheese cake costs RM 9.90 per slice, but due to it’s standard, the cheesecake is just not worth the price as compared to what other cafe’s offer.
Vegetarian Selection – 2/5
Extremely limited choices. There is only one vegetarian selection for the main course, which is expected considering Milwaukee is a steak house. The appetizers and side dishes have more vegetarian selections, such as a garden salad, fruit salad, samosa, spring rolls and a few others. Unfortunately, none of their soups are vegetarian as the chef adds chicken stock into it. Caution: The waiters/waitresses are not aware about this stock and would tell you it’s suitable for vegetarians.
Service – 3/5
The staff at Milwaukee provides good service. They are willing to help and entertain any inquiries you may have regarding the restaurant. Initially, the service was a little slow, and it took quite some time before anyone brought the menu. However, from the point an order was placed until the bill was requested for, the service was very good. The food came reasonably fast, and at the proper sequence. The deserts was served at the end of the meal without even having to call for it.

I am not really a fan of Agilo Olio but I would like to try this restaurant given the chance. Looks very yummy. Especially the finger foods. Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing this lovely restaurant for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike to go to.
I resonate with with many of the comments here, please food establishments provide good quality vegetarian food for all your customers. Sometimes it feels like when it comes to vegetarian food the effort and care is simply not there. And vegetarian food can be very tasty.
its always a pleasant surprise to be able to find (more) vegetarian options in places which specializes in steak. there were a few times i went to pubs for food (typically full of meat) with my ex workmates and they were always concerned that i had nothing to eat there.. and sometimes we end up not going to such places. Pubs and steakhouses, please be kind to vegetarians who are meat-eaters’ friends!
Nice atmosphere and environment. Another trend to see is that even steak house provide vegetarian choices. I think there are more vegetarians now compared to 10 years ago.
hehe.. Sock Wan, yes compare to 10 years ago they have provide few choices of vegetarian foods already. Is a nice place to hang out 🙂
For one who has a group of diners consisting of both meat eaters and vegetarians, this would seem an ideal restuarant to patronise. Conveniently, you can order both meat and vegetarian food to serve the diners own taste and purpose. This was said to be a comfortable and moderately priced restuarant. Famous for its tasty Western meaty steak cuisine, it was said to be vegetarian friendly too, suject to its limitation. With live Band music to accompany your diners’ pleasure, nevertheless, it will be worth a visit to satisfy one’s own curiousity! Happy dining to all.
The outdoor al fresco and interiors looked enticing enough for me to drive all the way down there to try this weekend.
Another vegetarian restaurant to explore.
If we are looking for mixture of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food then this place can be worth checking out with mixture of food loving friends. If looking for purely vegetarian food, then it is limited as reviewed. Well, no harm trying it out when around the vicinity.
wow…Another restaurant review.
i like the environment. Even though rated 3/5 but it’s great for me especially the outdoor sit.
I like those food in the pictures……look so tempting!
Who say difficult to find vegetarian food?
Thanks for the review and this info was quite beneficial
Wow…nice place and nice food…i love the atmosphere, very comfy and cozy, nice to chill out with small group of friend. I am gonna try it out hehehe…Thank You Rinpoche for sharing 🙂
Outside of the restaurant very colorfully lighted and inside looked clean and comfortable. If the food is delicious and of high quality people won’t mind paying a bit more to enjoy a satisfying meal but if the taste and quality of the food is not up to standard customers will not patronise the place more than once even if the price is cheap. Best is value for money!
Thanks Rinpoche for sharing another good place to get Vegetarian food… This is really a good place that we may go with a big group or families, if they still no vegetarian they can choose normal food and we can share our ordered vegetarian food to let them try. I think after try it they will know vegetarian food is very delicious also. Yummy yummy…
Thank you for the sharing, this week will be in KL, see whether got chance to visit this restaurant to try the vegetarian foods.
Wau, I like Aglio Olio, it seems simple to prepare but not many can give the quality taste, either too oily or pasta was over-cooked. Samosa looks like our Malaysian karipap, another good finger food to eat with old or cold drinks. Yummy yummy. Thanks for sharing.
