Japanese Mountain Climbers Say They Found Yeti Footprints
October 21, 2008
Japanese climbers said on Tuesday they had found footprints on a mountain in western Nepal they think belonged to an abominable snowman or Yeti.
Kuniaki Yagihara, a member of the Yeti Project Japan, said they identified three footprints that looked like that of human beings in Kathmandu. The group returned from the mountain with photographs of the footprints.
However, the climbers, equipped with long-lens cameras, video cameras and telescopes, said that they did not see or take any photographs of the creature.
Largely regarded by the scientific community as a mythical creature, the Yeti is said to live in the Himalayan regions of Nepal.
The creature’s footprints were found on snow at an altitude of about 4,800 meters (15,748 feet) in the Dhaulagiri mountain range in western Nepal, according to Yagihara, 61.
“We know how the footprints of bear, deer and mountain goat look like and it was none of that,” he said. “We believe it is that of Yeti.”
With the support of Sherpas, Yagihara and his team spent six weeks on the lower reaches of the 7,661-meter (25,134-ft) Dhaulagiri IV looking for evidence of the beast’s existence.
Since the 1920s, sherpas have spun tales of a wild hairy creature roaming the Himalayas, capturing the imagination of foreign climbers of Mount Everest. Those stories prompted many, including Sir Edmund Hillary, to carry out yeti hunts.
In august, two U.S. men claimed they had found the remains of a half-man, half-ape Bigfoot, which actually turned out to be a rubber gorilla suit.
Although other climbers claimed to have found Yeti footprints, no one has actually seen or produced irrefutable proof.
But many still believe the creatures exist.
“If I don’t believe on Yeti I would never come,” said Yagihara, the manager of a mountain museum in Japan.

National Geographic American Paranormal – Bigfoot
This documentary contains an excellent explanation on the Patterson-Gimlin footage of Bigfoot dubbed Patty. It goes through scientific methods to prove the image on the film is authentic. Please watch and be convinced finally. I’ve always believed the footage was genuine. Mr. Gimlin in all the interviews I’ve watched seemed very genuine and suffered tremendously as a result of the footage.

Curious about the legendary Yeti? Not sure what to believe? Here is an article that explores a range of sources, from folktales to newspaper reports, detailing sightings and encounters with the elusive creature, who has been a part of the very fabric of various Himalayan communities for thousands of years. Read about religious beliefs, myths, fables and stories by scholars and travellers alike, and realise that there is more to the Yeti than you previously thought.

This is a real awesome documentary on bigfoot. One of the best – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cp5eV9nIEjk&feature=youtu.be
In 1967, Bob Gimlin and Roger Patterson stumbled across an incredible sight whilst out in Bluff Creek, in the California wilderness. At a creek which had been freshly washed-out by recent floods, they witnessed a female Bigfoot swiftly traverse the rugged landscape. Since their filmed encounter with the Bigfoot, who has since been nicknamed Patty, many have disputed the authenticity of their recording but no one has been able to successfully prove that it is a fake.
Credits for this video goes to entirely to windvale for the original footage. ?
The Himalayan region is the home to the Yeti legend, where expeditions from around the world congrue for an up-close encounter with the elusive creature! Tales and witnesses from the monasteries and local villages around the region have kept the legend alive for many decades. While there are photos of the acclaimed Yeti’s footprint, it is a pity that Yagihara-san and his crew did not find the beats. I hope there will be more evidence about Yeti and the mystery can finally be unveiled. Thank you for this sharing.
The legend of the Yeti rests deep in the Himalayan psyche. Tales of wild hairy giants living in the snow are part of growing up in the Himalayan mountains. Because of this, many were inspired to carry out yeti hunts, including Sir Edmund Hillary.
Despite many sightings and enthusiasts actively looking for Yeti and Bigfoot, most turn out to be futile because no one can furnish the press or media with clear evidence of the Yeti or Bigfoot. Some “hopeful” incidents turned out to be false. For example, in the past where potential Yeti hairs turned out to be that of a species of goat, and in the US where claims of remains of Bigfoot later turned out to be a rubber gorilla suit.
This is the third attempt of the eight-member Japanese crew to track down the half-man-half-ape. Although they did not find any “earth-shattering” evidence, I respect them for spending more than 40 days in the Himalayan mountains for their quest. After all, they did find a footprint!
I was curious and went online to search for the picture of the footprint, which I have attached here. This is a composite image from Yeti Project Japan shows what team members claim is a yeti footprint (left) photographed on the Dhaulagiri mountain in Nepal, and a human footprint sample (right).
Dear Rinpoche, I believed Yeti existed. For me I think Yeti/Bigfoot is just another species of animal that is related to humans but their body sizes are much more larger and hairier than us. They haven’t evolve or will never evolve to human forms because they are too used to living in the wild. So, I believe that Kuniaki Yagihara’s story or proof is real. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article.
wow, i believe that bigfoot is out there, he may be a monkey that evolved in a different way than humans. so many mysteries to be solved and i cannot wait until there is solid evidence that bigfoot exists so i can scream “i knew it!’ to everyone :D.
I love to believe the mystical mystery behind the yeti. It has always made me wonder whether it exist and if it does i hope to see it one day. Since the first time i came to knowledge of the yeti’s ‘existence’ till now there has been no real hard evidence of the existence of the yeti. I really respect Mr Yagihara’s dream and strong belief of the yeti and i really do hope he manages to discover the yeti. He would really accomplish everyone’s childhood dream of the yeti. I still like to believe it does exist haha. Thanks for sharing this post Rinpoche, i too like to read articles and view documentaries of the yeti. One day we may be able to find the truth, but till then yeti still wins the world record of hide and seek. 🙂
